There are packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability referenced in the following CVE:

  - A null pointer dereference bug affects the 16.02 and many old versions of p7zip. A lack of null pointer
    check for the variable folders.PackPositions in function CInArchive::ReadAndDecodePackedStreams in
    CPP/7zip/Archive/7z/7zIn.cpp, as used in the 7z.so library and in 7z applications, will cause a crash and
    a denial of service when decoding malformed 7z files. (CVE-2016-9296)

The version of p7zip installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2016-9296 advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Security fix for CVE-2016-9296

The version of 7-Zip installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 16.03. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service (DoS) flaw due to a Null pointer dereference flaw.
