Wesnoth 实现与其自己的游戏脚本语言配合使用的文本预处理语言。它也拥有内置的 Lua 解释器和 API。Lua API 和预处理器使用同一函数 (filesystem::get_wml_location()) 解析文件路径，因此只能读取用户的数据目录的内容。但是，函数不会明确禁用扩展名为 .pbl 的文件。因此可以将这些文件的内容存储在保存的游戏文件中，甚至是直接传输给联网游戏中的其他用户。受到威胁的信息中包括用户定义的密码，用于将上传内容认证到游戏的内容服务器。
